I am just a little behind in my reading

Image
This is a picture of the books that I am currently reading or have not read yet. I am just a tad bit behind in my reading. I used to read all the time. Before I married Carl, I would stay up late and read before going to sleep. Sometimes, I would fall asleep with the book in my hands. Now, I have someone to talk to before going to sleep. I definitely prefer having Carl with me, but I need to find some time to get some reading done.

Living Life...

Image
Just an update to let you all know that I am still here. I feel like I haven't really blogged in a while. We have been busy with the stuff of life. It seems like we are always going non-stop. Thankfully, this coming weekend looks to be a little slower paced. Then, it gets busy again.... We didn't go to IHC, but we were able to watch some of the services online. I really enjoyed the Building for Keeps service, and Thursday evening was just too special for words. It was wonderful to see God moving in the service, and to feel Him near to me here at home. God is so good! Saturday afternoon, Carl and I went to visit Carl's brother, Jason. We went over to Jason and Tammy's house for a cook-out and fellowship. Our nephew, Elijah was excited to play with his Uncle Carl. He kept telling Carl, "Come play with me, come play with me." How could Uncle Carl resist? We had a good time, and the rain held off. We ate some good food, had some good conversation, and even watched...

Ebates

Image
I recently signed up for EBates. It is a website that pays you cash for shopping online. You go to their website, ebates.com, and choose the online store where you want to shop (they have a lot!). Then you shop like you normally would. You can earn a small percentage of what you spent, usually around 2 to 5%, but I have seen some higher percentages. Every quarter, you will receive a check for the amount you earned. Pretty simple. They also sometimes have coupon codes for the online stores. If you sign up now, you can get a $5 bonus. Go through the link below, and I will get a referral bonus. http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=2MFMfMa40rNLYN3szIteIg%3D%3D

Easy CrockPot Recipe

Image
Here is an easy recipe for the Crock Pot. It is from my Gooseberry Patch Slow Cooking Cookbook. All the recipes in the book have 5 ingredients or less. I got the cookbook from my Mom as a wedding gift. Super Simple Chicken Dinner 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 26-oz jar of spaghetti sauce 1/2 cup water 1/2 teaspoon salt cooked egg noodles or spaghetti Place chicken in a slow cooker; add sauce, water and salt. Cover and cook on high setting for 4 hours. Spoon shredded chicken and sauce over cooked noodles. Serves 4. You could use any kind of pasta sauce. We always use the traditional because we have a somewhat picky eater in our house...hahaha. I am actually cooking this right now for us to eat tomorrow at lunch. Use one of these and you will have almost no mess to clean up. I love them!

From Grandma's yard...

Image
Before we had dinner Sunday afternoon at Grandma Miller's house, I went out to take some pictures. I am still getting used to the settings on my camera. I took pictures of her many flowers. She has flowerbeds everywhere. She loves to be out in her gardens. Here are some of the pics from my walk around her yard. Lilac bush I loved the color of these tulips! I like how the one tulip is in focus, and everything else isn't. Pretty cool.

Monday Musings

Psalm 62:7 & 8 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. Carl and I read these verses in our devotions one day last week, and I have not forgotten them. I was reminded again of the fact that God wants us to "pour out {our} heart before Him" because He is ready to listen. I am so glad that God is our Refuge. I was telling the kids in Junior Church about these verses yesterday. I explained that God is always ready to listen to us, no matter the time or place. We don't have to worry about God treating us like we are stupid over the things that concern us. Nothing is too small OR too big for Him. Also, God will keep everything we say to Him in confidence. Sometimes, when we confide in others, what we have to say may get spread around, even though we don't plan for it to happen. People talk, that's just the way it is. Go...

Planning a trip...

Image
Carl and I have been talking about going to Chicago for our first anniversary (strange to be already talking about our anniversary!). We plan on going up there for a couple of days. We have a few things on our to-do list while we are there, but this is where y'all come in. We need suggestions on things to do. What are some must-see/must-do attractions? I haven't been to Chicago since I was in elementary school, which was a long time ago. We are kinda on a budget, so if you all have any ideas on keeping costs down, that would be great! Any suggestions on a place to stay? Leave a comment with any suggestions. We would appreciate it! We can't wait to go!

10 Months

Image
It's been 10 months since our wedding. Hard to believe. I was talking to my friend Brittany just last week about how it doesn't seem possible that we both have been married for almost year already. Where has the time gone? It's crazy to think that Carl and I are already discussing how to celebrate our 1st anniversary...more on that later. I am one blessed woman. God gave me a wonderful husband. He listens to my crazy ideas, and endures my ADD-like ramblings! I think there just might be a special reward in Heaven waiting for him. ;)

Weekend Wrap-Up

Image
I guess I should have posted this one before the Monday night one, but oh well. We had a relaxing weekend. It was so beautiful outside! We had made plans to go visit with some family, but we had to postpone that for another weekend. Friday night after work, I made a trip to Target on the way home. (I love the fact that I pretty much live across the street from Target!) I found this purse for $7. It is nice and "springy." It matched my outfit for church perfectly yesterday. :) Plus, it is big enough to hold A LOT of stuff. Saturday afternoon, I went to a Bridal Shower for a friend I met a few years ago at work. She doesn't work there anymore, but we try to keep in touch through Facebook. Jenna received a lot of gifts. You would have to know Jenna and her family, but they keep you laughing, that is for sure. Since we had the change of plans I mentioned earlier, Carl and I decided to go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner on Saturday evening, after we went for a walk. (Had to bur...

Monday night musings...

Here I am sitting on the couch, waiting for my husband to arrive home from work. I have a lot of things on my mind, serious thoughts, tonight. I have a friend that is hurting and needs guidance, family members that need prayer, and loved ones that need the Lord desperately. I have a feeling that a lot of you could say the thing. I am trying to do a better job at praying for others. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the things that affect me, that I forget to talk to our Heavenly Father about the needs of others. My problems become so small and meaningless when I look at what others are going through. I had no idea that all this was going to come out when I started typing, but it did. Lord, please help me to put the needs of others before my needs and desires. I want people to see less of me, and more of You.

March Favorites

Image
Here are some things I was loving in the month of March: 1. Reese Peanut Butter Eggs I love these...too much! They are so addicting! 2. Starburst Jelly Beans These are my favorite type of jelly bean...and a lot better for me than the peanut butter eggs. :) 3. Chick-fil-a Sweet Tea With me giving up soda, I have been buying the sweet tea by the gallon. I have started buying the unsweet tea lately, though. I am trying to cut out those "empty" calories. 4. This song: I love this song. We may not have the answers to all of life's questions, but we can know that our lives can be changed by Jesus! 5. Getting a raise. Woo-Hoo!! 6. Taking walks with my husband. I love living so close to work because I can come home for lunch and take a walk with Carl.

3 Down, 1 to go.

Image
I now have 3 out of the four things on my wish list that I posted about earlier this year. I have the camera, flat iron, and now I have the Bible I wanted. Mom gave me the Children Ministry Resource Bible this weekend. I look forward to putting my Bible to good use. I was reading some of the lesson plans last night, getting ideas for Junior Church. Now all I need is the new Ted Dekker book, "The Bride Collector". He is actually coming to the Indy area in a couple of weeks. Maybe I well get the book then.

Easter 2010

Image
Our Easter weekend was pretty busy. I took Good Friday off of work to get things ready for Easter. Carl and I went down to the church to put together the treats for the Junior Church kids. We put together 36 treats, and had only one left at the end of the service. Saturday, I had an Easter Egg Hunt Party for the Junior Church kids in our Fellowship Hall and grounds. I was a little worried when we first got there with it raining like it was. But God helped us, stopped the rain and brought out the sunshine. Here are some pictures from Saturday. My little cousin Riley Ben and Evan hunting for eggs. Ethan and Adam comparing eggs. Caitlin on a mission... Shianne Boys looking everywhere Caleb being cute Sunday was pretty busy. Our church had a Sunrise service at 7:00am, with breakfast in our Fellowship Hall afterward. It was a little hard to get up that early, but it was totally worth it. The whole day was absolutely wonderful...well minus the migraine part. I am so thankful for the pric...

Then Came the Morning

Thank God for that Morning!

I love this song!

UBC Easter program

Image
Last night, I went to the Easter Program at Union Bible College. They did the musical drama "The Day He Wore My Crown" and did a very good job. I think we (or least I) tend to forget how much Jesus went through to save us from our sins. Even though I mess up in my walk with Him, He still loves me and forgives me, and picks me up to place me back on the path. I could never thank Jesus enough for all that He did for me! Here are some pictures from the evening. Pilate's Hall The tomb The Choir "Jesus" coming in... Singing Hosanna! Pilate and Jesus Thank God for the Cross!! Jesus is Alive! AMEN!
