Anthony Burger

Image
Sunday, February 22nd marked three years since Anthony Burger passed away. It is hard to believe that it has been that long already. I remember where I was when I heard the news. It was early morning, my Mom was just leaving for work. She came back in the house, woke me up, and told me that she had just heard on the Southern Gospel radio station that Anthony Burger died while performing on a cruise. She knew that I was a BIG fan of Anthony, and I would want to know what was going on. I was still half asleep, so I thought that maybe it was just a dream. Later in the day, I got an email from my best friend Amy that confirmed the sad news for me. I actually cried when I realized that it was true. I loved his style of playing and could listen to his playing for hours. I got to see him in concert with the Gaithers three times and once with Kirk Tally and Ivan Parker. I got to meet him a couple of times, and he was always very gracious and humble. I haven't been to a Gaither concert sinc

Tubing...

was AWESOME! If you have never been to Perfect North Slopes, you really need to go. I had never been snow tubing before, so I was a little nervous. But I had a lot of fun. I think there were 17 all together from our church that went. And all 17 of us went down the hill together in a long chain. What a rush! We went so fast that some of the kids could hang on to the other tubes, so the chain broke. It really was a great time. Carl is ready to go again...

Valentine's Day 1979...

...Mom and I left warm sunny Panama for cold snowy Maryland. From what Mom has told me, we actually left Panama on the 13th of February, but arrived at our final destination in Maryland on the 14th. I was just a little over 4 months old. My dad had been transferred from Panama to an army base in Maryland in September of 1978. Mom was due to have me at the end of September (I didn't arrive until October) so she was unable to go with Dad. She had to stay in Panama until after I was born, and then go through all the red tape to get to the United States. Dad had not seen me in person yet until that Valentine's Day. Needless to say, I was always a big Daddy's Girl. Mom said that she and I did not have coats when we arrived, and there was about 3 feet of snow on the ground...She had never seen snow before, so she didn't really know what to think. She said that a lot of the stores were closed because of the snow. This Valentine's Day marked 30 years of being in the US. Thi

I bought a new digital camera today while I was at lunch. Office Depot had these Kodak 8 megapixel cameras for $89.99, a savings of $40. I also bought a 2GB memeory card for $8.00. I am anxious to use it, and I will get a chance tomorrow night, when we go tubing at Perfect North with the youth group from church. Of course, the first picture I took was of Carl as he was driving, then of Carl and I after we ate lunch. Then, I was playing with the camera while at work and took a pic of the roses that Carl had sent to work for Valentine's Day. (That's another post, but I am too tired for that right now...)

We got our Invitations today

We received our wedding invitations today in the mail. I was so excited! They are really pretty...at least we think so. :) I can't wait to send them out. Seeing the actual invitation made the fact that I, Vanessa Miller, am getting married seem all that more official. It is exciting, and also a little scary at the same time. But it is a good kind of scary. If that makes any sense at all. That's all I have for now... I am off to read some more of my Ted Dekker book, Sinner. It is hard to put down, as all Ted Dekker books are.

Here's looking at you, Kid!!

I love this picture of Brooklynn that I took on Sunday. She kept making this face at me...or actually we kept making this face at each other...lol. She is so funny! Just looking at this picture cracks me up... You also have to love the mohawk look, thanks to her dad. Here are some other pics that I took before my camera batteries died. I was only able to get one of Mackenzie...the poor little girl wasn't feeling good. She was very fussy. More of the "fishy" face Being serious Mackenzie Grace
