Snow and other Randomness

Image
So we got a lot of snow the last couple of days...like a foot of the fluffy white stuff. I took some pictures while on the way home from work today. Don't worry, I was not driving, James was. He was nice enough to take both Mom and I to work and pick us up today. As we were coming down State Road 135 this afternoon, we saw all kinds of people sledding at the Country Club. Almost made me want to go sledding too. It has been a long long time since I have been sledding. I took pictures of the fields on Whiteland Road, and some pics of the snow at our house. Fields on Whiteland Road The snow at the front of our house The back yard Wanna sit down for a while? I also added a new countdown widget for the latest Ted Dekker book. It sounds like it will be an awesome read. I love Ted Dekker's books. They keep me up at night, but I love them. I am supposed to send them (Ted Dekker's website people) a link to my blog and I will be entered to win an advance copy of the book. I thought

Below is a sampling of our engagement pictures. We had the photo session in early December, but I wasn't able to scan the photos in until now. Brenda Herring is our photographer. I love these pictures and know that I will love the wedding photos as well.

Something to make me smile

This picture makes me smile and I needed something to make me smile. Carl makes me sooo happy! I am so glad that I waited for God to send me the right man.

Please pray for our family...

Image
I am asking you all to pray for my family, especially my Mom right now. We found out tonight that one of my uncles in Panama, my Uncle Fidel, died of a heart attack today. It was a great shock to us when I read the email this evening. From what my cousin wrote in the email, they have not told my Grandma Peña about Fidel's death yet. She is in her eighties and is not in very good health. Please keep her in your prayers as well. My uncle had just retired from his job. He had turned 62 in June, and he and his wife had both retired. They had a lot of plans for their retirement years. His family will need a lot of prayers. Most of the family down there is Catholic, if they claim any sort of religion at all, which is very very sad. This is a picture of him from our visit last April. Please pray for us. It's hard to stay here and do nothing it seems like, but a trip to Panama just isn't feasible right now. Thank you for your prayers.

Brooklynn Marie

Image
Here are a few pictures from this Sunday at Grandma Miller's house. One is of Brooklynn being her usual silly self. The other two are of Jeremy and Brooklynn "sharing" a milkshake that Jeremy had made. I think that Brooklynn was having more fun with trying to take her uncle Jeremy's straw away, though. You can just see the mischievousness in her eyes. Oh how I love this little girl! She is something else. I can only imagine what she is going to do as my flower girl...

New look...

I changed my blog layout...finally. I went with a more "grungy" look since that was the mood I was in at the time. I lost my list of blogs. I built a new one, but if I don't have your blog on my list, let me know and I will add it...later. As for now, I am off to bed, to get rid of this headache that I have had all day. Peace out...

One year...

One year ago this morning, our lives were forever changed. January 2, 2008 was the day that Dad died in a car accident on the way to work. I will never forget the way I felt when the coroner came to the house to tell me the news, and how I felt when Mom asked me if the whole thing was all just a very bad dream. We will probably never know why God chose to take Dad when and how He did, but we do know that God knows why. As the song writer put it..."for I know whate'er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well." I may not have been able to say that in the days after Dad's death, but it is a little easier for me to say now. This past year, we have learned to trust God more, and, personally, my faith in Him has grown. I have learned to trust God to meet our needs. I was always the type to run to Daddy for everything....he was my Daddy, he could fix all my problems. Or so I thought. Now, I am learning to trust my Heavenly Father to take care of me. Today actually went a lot b

Bridesmaid Dresses

I have finally decided on bridesmaid dresses! We went to David's Bridal today and 3 of my 4 bridesmaids were able to take their dresses home with them. Brittany's had to be ordered. Plus, I ordered the bolero jackets to go with the dresses. I had originally wanted to have two girls wear burgundy (they call it wine at DB) and two wear pink, but decided today to go with all 4 girls in wine. The flowers girls will probably wear pink dresses. The bouquets will be a mixture of wine and pink roses. I was very happy to have this settled. I took pictures of the girls in their dresses and they looked so elegant. Plus, I also took some silly pictures of them. They had fun trying on different dresses, and it was neat to have some "girl time". Now Carl needs to pick out what kind of tux he wants to wear. We will do that either this Saturday or next Saturday. Then his groomsmen and ushers can go be fitted. We got our Save the Date magnets in the mail, and have already passed some
