Image
Sunday evening after church, we had cake and ice cream for Carl's birthday. Carl loves fellowship with our church people and I knew he would like this. We all had a good time. The Birthday Boy! Pastor Forsee and Carl Mackenzie and Brooklynn

Happy 40th Birthday, Carl!

Image
Today Carl is the big 4-0...:) I wanted to post this earlier in the day, but better late than never, huh? We have had a good day, and Carl has had a nice birthday. We are now in different decades. We went to Logan's last night with Carl's Mom, Grandma and friend Mark. The food was sooo good. We were completely stuffed when we left there. He opened his gift from me this afternoon. He wore the shirt this evening when we went to his Dad's house for dinner. Tomorrow evening after church, I am having cake and ice cream for him. He loves fellowship with God's people and I know we all will enjoy it. I am sure I will have more pictures to post after that. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CARL! i LOVE YOU!

International Space Station

Image
Carl and I just saw the International Space Station go over our house...seriously. If you go to this website --> http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/ you can find out the time and direction of when you can see the space station in your area. It looks like a star, but the light is solid and moving. We were able to see it for about 4 minutes. It was actually pretty cool. Here is a picture of the International Space Station as it was zooming over our house tonight.

Church Picnic

This past Saturday was our annual Church Picnic. It was held at Province Park in Franklin. It was raining a little in the morning, but cleared up quickly. It was really a nice day for a picnic. We had a very good turn out. There were even some new people, and a couple of them came to church on Sunday, thank the Lord. Everyone had a good time. There was plenty of food, fun and fellowship. Pastor Forsee had a corn hole competition complete with a trophy for the winning team. Carl and I were in charge of the games for the kids. The kids had a blast. There were a few bumps in the road with some wanting to do their own thing, and Carl getting some major rope burn on his hands from the tug of war game. (His hands are healing nicely.) But all in all, it was a good day. The kids loved the creek that was beside the shelter house. They loved trying to catch crawdads and even caught a tiny turtle. I took some pictures while trying to keep order, but it wasn't working out. So I handed my camer...

Max Lucado

I am not sure how many of you are fans of Max Lucado, but I appreciate his insights so much. I follow him on Twitter, and thought I would post some of his more recent tweets. Who knew that one could say so much in 140 characters or less? As twittered by Max Lucado: God does what we cannot do so we can be what we dare not dream: perfect before God. Jesus knew that each human being is a treasure. And because he did, people were not a source of stress but a source of joy. I challenge you to find one soul who came to God seeking grace and did not find it. You will never forgive anyone more than God has already forgiven you. Don't ask God to do what you want. Ask God to do what is right. Within reach of your prayers is the Maker of the oceans. God's lights in our dark nights are as numerous as the stars, if only we'll look for them. Isn't it good to know that even when we don't love with a perfect love, God does? God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leav...

Headache reliever

I have been having awful headaches the past couple of weeks. I think it has been a combination of the heat and some stressful times, but the headaches were horrible. I had a headahce for two straight weeks. I would take some medicine, but it would come right back. I was about to go crazy... Okay, crazier than usual. I was praying that God would allow me to have a break from these awful migraines. Then, I was reading my latest issue of Taste of Home magazine. In it, it mentioned that certain foods trigger headaches, which I knew. I had been avoiding certain foods because I knew they would make the pain worse. But , the article went on to say that some foods and drinks can relieve headaches. It mentioned ginger, as in ginger ale. It actually mentioned drinking ginger tea or ginger ale. I bought some on Saturday, and tried it. It actually has helped. I can almost feel the headache going away after I drink a glass of ginger ale. Thank the Lord for helping me find this remedy. I am still pr...

I can't wait for these to come out!

Looks like these would be very good videos...

Grandma's Birthday Party

Image
The party we had for my Grandma's 80 th birthday turned out really well on Friday night. We had a pretty good turn out, and Grandma enjoyed herself. Thanks to all who came to the party, and to all those who helped in planning, decorating, and cooking for the party. We gave Grandma a photo book that showed a family history. There were pictures of her parents, siblings, children and grandchildren, plus pictures of her and Grandpa. She really liked it, and so did a lot of other people. Here are some pictures from the party.

Time for Three at Symphony on the Prairie

Image
Last night, we went to hear one of my favorite groups, Time for Three, at Symphony on the Prairie. It was a great evening. The weather was just about perfect, and the group out on an amazing performance, as always. They call themselves a classically trained garage band. The group is two violinists and a double bass player. They play all kinds of musical genres, everything from classical to bluegrass. I think they are awesome. One of the violinists, Zach De Pue, is actually the concertmaster for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The guys are amazing musicians and are really down to earth people. Zach came into the picture a little late, so the pic came out blurry. :(

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Image
Today is my Grandma Miller's 80 th birthday. I want to wish her a very special happy birthday! She means a lot to our family. I am so thankful for her. She is such a prayer warrior. I know that she prays for each one of her children and grandchildren every day. I am thankful for the Christian heritage we have, and the example that Grandpa and Grandma have been for us. Grandma is always saying that God supplies her needs, and I know that He does. Here are some pictures of Grandma that I had on my laptop. I made a photo book for her birthday that we will give to her on Friday evening at a birthday party in her honor. Random pics from VBS

Image
Here are some random pics from our Vacation Bible School this week. God helped us. We had a great group of kids this year. We had a good program this morning, with about 120 people there, and a good dinner after the service. There were also several parents there today that do not normally come to church. That was really good to see.
