Cato finds

Image
Carl and I went to eat out last Saturday night at McAlister's, and stopped by Cato before we ate. I bought these two skirts there. I am actually wearing the polka dot one tonight when we go to hear the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. They are performing the music to The Wizard of Oz as the movie plays. I am really looking forward to it.

Goodwill finds

Image
Last Saturday, I went to the 50% off sale at Goodwill. I spent about $15 and bought a jean jacket, 3 skirts, 2 sweaters, and a blouse. I ended up taking 2 skirts and one of the sweaters back, but I was happy with my purchases. Here is a picture of what I bought.

Little Cousins

Image
Since my cousin Lynn has been taking classes and working as a unit secretary on the weekends, we have not seen her, Michael, or their little girls lately. I was looking at these pictures of Brooklynn and Mackenzie in my wallet the other day, thinking about how much I miss them. They are my cousins, once removed, but they are like nieces to me. Brooklynn (2 and 1/2) Mackenzie (1 and 1/2) Well, Sunday, I got a treat. My Uncle Steve and Aunt Kathy came out to Grandma's house for Sunday dinner and brought the girls with them along with my cousin Jeremy and his girlfriend. It was soo good to see "my" girls! They never fail to make me laugh. They are growing up so fast! And talking so much!! As soon as Mackezine came in the house, she started saying "I want to eat!" A girl after my own heart she is... I had to snap some photos of them. My mom stayed home to get some rest since she has been working a lot of hours this past week, so she missed seeing Brooklynn and Mack

God is Good, All the Time

God has been especially good to us this week. On Friday, my boss surprised me by giving me a raise in my salary. I was not expecting it at all. It has been a while since I have received a raise, but I knew with the economic situation, it would not be a good idea to ask for one. So I was just going to wait. The raise was more than I thought it was going to be, so I am very thankful. Then, when I came home for lunch that day, there was a check from our escrow account. We evidently had a surplus in that account. Our property taxes and home owner's insurance actually went down, causing our mortgage payment to go down as well. We are very thankful for God's blessings in our lives. Not just monetary blessings, but for our health, family, friends, a good church to attend, each other, and the list could go on and on. A lot of times, we can be tempted to look at all the bad thing going on around us, and take our eyes off of Jesus and the good things in life. Lord, help me to see the goo

Indiana Flower and Patio Show

Image
Saturday, Mom, Carl and I went to the Flower and Patio Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. It was opening day, so it was pretty crowded. Plus, it was a rainy day, so I think that brought more people indoors. We saw the different gardens, which were beautiful as always. The theme this year for the gardens was "A Novel Idea." Each garden had a book title for the name. Some of my favorites were "The Wizard of Oz," The Bible/Garden of Eden, and "The Chronicles of Narnia." I actually bought some lily bulbs to plant at our house...seriously. Me, the person that kills flowers. Mom said that these should be easy to care for, so we shall see if I can keep them alive. I am not making any promises here, though. Below are some of my favorite pictures from the show and the link to the rest of the pictures I took. Beautiful centerpiece...love stargazer lilies! Super Easy Cookies

Image
I found this cookie idea as I was going through random blogs. It is so super easy. All you need for this are the following: 1. Ready to Bake cookies 2. Any flavor cake frosting Bake the cookies as you normally would. After they have cooled, spread frosting on underside of one cookie and place another cookie on top of the frosting to make a sandwich cookie. I made these Saturday night and took them to Grandma's on Sunday. I went home with an empty plate. They were very, very good!

9 Months

Image
Today, Carl and I have been married for 9 months. We are getting closer and closer to our 1 year anniversary. It doesn't seem possible that it has been that long.

This and That

Image
Here are some pictures to show you what I have been up to this week. Warning: Things get pretty random. Cardinal at one of my Grandma's many bird feeders Sunday afternoon. Kaitlyn and Adrianna after church Sunday night. We had a birthday party for Byron at our Fellowship Hall. We played games and had some yummy food, including strawberry shortcake. Yum! One of the games was "Spoons." Fast paced and fun game. Then, if you read my previous post, last night was Ladies Night, where I worked on some Easter cards. I am not finished with them though. Also, I hurt my right arm sometime Wednesday afternoon. I either pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve around my elbow. The pain was so strong it woke me up early Thursday morning. Actually, I was dreaming I had broken my arm, and woke up in A LOT of pain. My arm hurt while at the same time, it felt weak, like it had "fallen asleep." It was such a weird feeling. The pain would come and go throughout the day yesterday and toda

Latest card project

Image
This is what I started on tonight at our monthly Ladies Night at church. Tonight was a free night of scrap booking, or whatever craft hobby one wanted to do. I started working on some Easter cards. This is the first time working with stamps, so I decided to go with something simple. I want to find either some silver flower stickers, or some fabric flowers to attach with brads. Mom suggested that Carl and I send these cards to missionaries and others who need some encouragement, which I thought was a very good idea.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Elijah!

Image
Yesterday was our nephew, Elijah's 3rd birthday. Jason and Tammy had the party at their house. Elijah is into firetrucks and firemen, so that was the theme. Tammy had a friend of hers make the cake, which turned out awesome. Elijah got lots of gifts from his family and friends. He kept asking, "Is this all my friends here, Mommy?" It was really cute. Tammy and Jason had Elijah say a little prayer before Jason continued the prayer for our food and for a blessing Elijah's life. Elijah is a special little boy and we love him a lot! Here are some pictures from his party: The cake table Close up of the cake. Very well done! Birthday Boy and his Daddy Opening presents

Going Back in Time...

Image
I am working on a Shutterfly photo book for my Grandma Miller for her 80th birthday in August. I know that is still a ways off, but I know it will be here before I know it. My uncle John sent me some old photos to go through, which I have been doing last night and tonight. I have been scanning the photos that I may want to use in Grandma's book. I want pictures from her childhood, her dating days with Grandpa, and pics of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I love looking at old pictures. It brings back such fond memories. Pictures can make you smile, laugh, sigh, and even cry. I guess it is true that a picture says a thousand words. Here are some pictures I found interesting in my search. Do you recognize anyone in these pics? My Grandpa Miller serving in the Army in Germany during WWII My Dad with his brothers. Dad is the third from the left in the back row. Grandpa and Grandma in Florida...I believe during Sea Breeze Camp Meeting in 1986. Grandma with her grand

February Favorites

Image
Here are some of the things that I enjoyed during the month of February. 1. These snack cakes. I love them. Too bad (or maybe it is a good thing) they are only available around Valentine's Day. If they were available all year, I would have to get bigger clothes, I think. 2. Snow. Yes, I enjoyed having some snow...for a few days. Then, it started getting cold getting more and more snow. I do like the snow. I love how quiet it gets. Have you noticed it seems like the cars move almost silently on the roads when we have snow? Maybe it is just me. I love the picture perfect snow scenes. I like going tubing. Carl and I were not able to go this year, we were disappointed. But, we do enjoy the snow. 3. Seeing Amy and Gina I always have a good time when I am around these two. They are like sisters to me. 4. My new hair dryer Carl bought a hair dryer for me for Valentine's Day. I needed one. Every time I would wash my hair, I would get a headache from having my wet hair and a heavy, wet
