I saw this picture on the Bing homepage. It made me remember our little trip to Chicago this summer. I would love to go back and spend more time there. It is such a great city!

Chicago - Day 3

We were too tired when we came home last night to do this post, but this is what we did on our last day in Chicago. We woke up about 8:30 to get all of our stuff together before checking out of the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay there. It was an historic hotel, so some of the decor was a little dated, but it was still nice. We started out towards Lake Shore Drive, and we passed the Moody Church on our way. We made our way to Shedd Aquarium. We had planned on parking there and walking to Millennium Park before going back to Shedd before heading home. But, after we parked, we noticed that the sky looked a little dark. So we thought we would go to the aquarium first. We got caught in the rain while walking there. I snapped a photo of the Field Museum of Natural History on the way. We had to stand in line for about an hour before even getting in the building to see the exhibits. We finally made it though. I took a lot of pictures inside, but I will do a separate post on that hopefully t...

Chicago - Day 2

What we did today: WALKED, WALKED AND WALKED SOME MORE! Seriously, we walked a lot. The trolley that we had planned to take around the city was not running today, probably because of the parade the city had for their NHL Hockey team, the Blackhawks, who just won the Stanley Cup. We didn't go to the parade because we knew it would be WAY too crowded for our liking, but we saw lots of people today sporting the Blackhawks shirts and jerseys...even a few headdresses... The first place we went was Moody Bible Institute. It was really neat to tour the campus, and to learn some more history of the school and D.L. Moody. We were able to tour the Moody Radio studio as well, which was really cool. We even rode the elevator down with the current President of MBI, but we didn't even realize it until after we got off the elevator. After Moody, we walked to the Hard Rock Cafe, where we tried to catch the Hop On/Hop Off Tour, to Willis (Sears) Tower, but, as I said, it wasn't running toda...

Chicago - Day 1

We are in Chicago! So far, everything is going well. We got a little later start out than we wanted, so we got caught up in rush hour traffic on the expressway. But other than that, all has gone well. We rented a Nissian Versa for our trip. We saw these windmills on the way up. There were probably hundreds of them. We are staying at the Ambassador East Hotel here in Chicago. We booked the room through Priceline. We were surprised to find out that we have a suite for our room. It is really nice. Here are some pics of the suite: We had dinner at Texas de Brazil. If you haven't heard of it, it is a Brazilian steakhouse, where you can eat from a salad bar like you have never seen, and then are served cuts of different types of meat by carvers that come to your table. We had sirloin, chicken, lamb, filet mignon and barbecue pork. I am not really a meat person, and I loved it! We were so full after dinner. The restaurant had an acrobat performing for the guests. She posed for a picture. ...

Planning a trip...

Carl and I have been talking about going to Chicago for our first anniversary (strange to be already talking about our anniversary!). We plan on going up there for a couple of days. We have a few things on our to-do list while we are there, but this is where y'all come in. We need suggestions on things to do. What are some must-see/must-do attractions? I haven't been to Chicago since I was in elementary school, which was a long time ago. We are kinda on a budget, so if you all have any ideas on keeping costs down, that would be great! Any suggestions on a place to stay? Leave a comment with any suggestions. We would appreciate it! We can't wait to go!
